S. Srivastava Memorial Educational Society was formed in 1989 by an eminent engineer and visionary, Er. K. B. Lai, who started SCM in 1997. The college, since then, has been in the forefront in the Hold of imparting comprehensive management courses at graduate and post, graduate levels. The House of Jaipurias, a recognised name in the Indian industrial arena, entered the field of management education and set up the Jaipuria Institute of Management (JIM) in 1995, which was meant to fulfil all norms regarding academic, financial and social aspects set by concerned statutory bodies. The institute is managed by Integral Education Society, which has been running well-known educational institutions throughout the country.
The institute conducts PGDBA course (two-year, full-time as well as three-year, part-time for working executives) approved by All India Council for Technical Education, Ministry of HRD (government of India). The board of governors and an academic council comprising eminent industrialists and educationists take all policy decisions and make the policy framework.
The institute is on the growth track, as can be seen from the accreditation it has got for its two-year full time PGDBA programme from the National Board of Accreditation, A1CTE, government of India. The institute has increased capacity from 120 to 180 seats for the full time PGDBA programme sanctioned by AICTE. It maintains close association with FICCI, CII, LMA, AIMA, AIMS, etc, and continuously updates syllabus through interaction between faculty and outside experts, so that its curriculum will be in tune with the requirements of industry and trade in the changing global economic environment.
The campus is situated in 10 acres of land at Gomti Nagar, in Lucknow. The building is spacious, well planned and equipped in all modern amenities. It has fully automated air-conditioned library, with over 12,000 volumes and subscription to 140 journals and periodicals. A state-of-the-art IBM computer lab (with 180 nodes and multiple high end servers), 24-hour high-speed Internet facility (through dedicated RF link from Software Technology Park of India, Lucknow), a fully air-conditioned large auditorium, a state-of-the-art conference hall - all these provide the right ambience for national and international programmes.
Students are admitted to the institute through a CAT conducted by IIMs. The selections are purely on merit. The institute has alumni strength of over 1,000 students, who hold important management positions and meet regularly at, Lucknow and other metros of the country.
