I IMS was conceived by Umesh Gautam, a young and dynamic entrepreneur, who realised the need of a good professional institute in the region. It was set up under the auspices of Uttaranchal Welfare Society in 1998 and is located on Bareilly, Lucknow. It began functioning with MBA, BBA and BCA programmes, which were affiliated to the CCS University, with the approval intake of 60, 120 and 120 respectively. For MBA students, the necessary approval from AICTE was also obtained. The intake of MBA in the institute has been increased to 120 students, with specialisation in marketing, human resources, information technology and finance. It is offering two-year, full-time programme in MBA.
The selection of the students is done through the state entrance test and through MAT conducted by the AIMA. As much as 85 per cent of the seats are to be filled by the UPTO and 15 per cent are in management quota, which is filled by the MAT students. The gender ratio of the boys and girls admitted to the curriculum are 70:30. The placement scenario at the institute is heartening, as it is able to provide almost 100 per cent placement for its students.
The institute has its own premises spread over 20 acres of land, located on the national highway itself. Its computer block has eight, labs, each having 30 computers and equipped with latest software and Internet facility through V-sat round the clock. The institute has a well-furnished library, with plenty of titles of relevance to management students. The library subscribes to plenty of national and international magazines and journals and 10 daily newspapers.
