The Mumbai-based South India Education Society (SIES) which has promoted the management institute believes strongly in blending tradition with modernity. Keeping this in view the institute for management promoted by the society has achieved the enviable record of producing managers sensitive to the community needs as well as acliieving a high degree of professionalism. The institute has on its own merit rose to become one of the formidable institutes of management in the country counted among the best in its genre.
The institute envisions bringing about further change over the next three to five years blending and experimenting with a complete new course curriculum and teaching methodology which not only grooms students as managers also make them responsive citizens and leaders of reckoning in the society. Possibly that will mean shut from standard teaching of text books to more of experiential learning and hands-on experience with the real world. At the core of the above research is going to be the focus. When the institute talks about research, it is not about pure theoretical research but applied research depending on the needs of the corporate and society at large. The institute also wants to adopt a “Cafeteria approach” akin to some of the western universities whereby even the non-management subjects like music, arts and culture, etc, will be offered as a part of the elective. This would help the students to develop themselves into full-fledged human being with both scientific approach and artistic thinking. SIES hopes this will distinguish the school from other business schools.
The SIES College of Management Studies (SIESCOMS) was promoted in 1995 by the South Indiana Education Society (SIES), one of the oldest and value-based trusts in existence since 1932. During its 10 years of existence SIESCOMS has come to be known as one of the innovative and progressive business schools in the country. The flagship programmes of the institute include Masters in Management Studies (MMS), a two-year full-time management programme affiliated to the University of Mumbai, Masters in Computers Application (MCA), a three-year full-tune technology focused programme affiliated to the Mumbai University, Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (PGDBA), and a 21-month full-time autonomous management programme, Post Graduate Diploma in Pharmaceutical Management (PGDPM), a 21-month full-time management programme on pharmaceutical management.
