This institute grew from the background of learning from the path breaking white revolution that swept the Indian agri business shortly after the success of Green revolution. The story of dairy industry growth from obscurity to global scale and the success of the milk producers cooperative society started by Joseph Kurien based out of Anand, the place where the institute is located is legendary. IRMA’s vision and ethos are derived from such practical success in empowering the common man to attain such successes, through a series of inten-tioned and unintentional managerial interventions.
IRMA today after more than two decades of existence is a formidable name to reckon with in the field of management education in the country and remarkably it has been able to preserve the underlying ethos of catering to the simple rural poor from India’s vast countryside. The student managers are constantly reminded of their role in empowering the society and its constituents and at the same time they are also taught the best of the management practiced globally. This balancing of the local versus the corporate needs brings out the best in the managers making them sober, competent and value based managers relevant to the growth of industry, a factor that has been well acknowledged by the corporate, seen from the flurry for grabbing the IRMA graduates at the end of every academic session.
The institute for its part actively encourages its students to spend time with socially relevant projects before taking up active corporate assignments. The pedagogy is designed to achieve this outcome and so is the quality of faculty and their own approach towards teaching and learning. The faculty group of IRMA is also well-known for their intellectual acumen as well as their prowess in corporate training.
The IRMA campus is state of the art with tastefully furnished class rooms in large numbers and an ambience that combines the rural with urban. The institute has a state of the art computer lab and it actively encourages the students to use the technology resources.
