Maharashtra Cosmopolitan Education Society’s Allana Institute of Management Sciences (AIMS), Pune was established in the year 1998, with the approval of the government of Maharashtra, as well as All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) New Delhi, and is affiliated to the University of Pune. It is situated in the heart of Pune cantonment, with its own playground, gymnasium, and all other facilities for indoor and outdoor games, as well as separate hostel facilities for boys and girls.
AIMS envisages preparing managers with high promise to act with determination, judgement and integrity in increasingly responsible positions of leadership in the complex global business environment. The establishment of the infrastructure was made possible by the generosity of the late Hussain Allana and the Allana Trust of the Allanasons group. The institute is making its progress under the guidance of P.A. Inamdar, president of the Maharashtra Cosmopolitan Education Society, Abeda Inamdar and E.B. Khedkar, the institute’s director.
The institute offers full time postgraduate courses such as Masters in Business Administration (MBA), Masters in Computer Management (MCM) and Masters in Computer Applications (MCA) – all affiliated to the University of Pune. The MBA programme includes specialisation in marketing, finance, computer management, production, materials and human resource management. The MCA & MCM programmes include computer application and management related subjects.
Students from different backgrounds (commerce, science, arts, engineering, pharmacy, etc) in the age group of 21-25 years, are admitted for the above mentioned programmes. Some of them possess industrial work experience. These students are admitted through centralised admission process. The institute provides national and international placement to the students.
AIMS has state-of-the-art resources such as computer labs and library. The faculty comprises of full-time and visiting professors drawn from industries and academic institutions who are experts in their own fields. By virtue of their on-going involvement with the business community, the faculty members bring in a practical perspective to the professional advice and affiliations they offer.
