Orissa has been quietly growing as a state for higher education with a number of good quality schools of engineering and management being set up every year. The Centre of Management Studies in the private sector is one such notable institution in this coastal state.

The Centre belongs to Nabajyoti Charitable Trust which began its operations in 1986. The Centre itself came into being in 2001 and since it has growing from strength to strength. The institute has tied up with Biju Patnaik University for its courses. The vision of the school is to be a leading b-school in the country retaining its uniqueness in blending the theoretical inputs with practical insights to groom global managers. The mission is to excel in the field of management education, training and consultancy by developing managers to meet global challenges. One of the unique offering of the school is to build sectoral management programmes covering, agriculture, insurance, tourism, health, rural and international business to allow the students to get a feel of functioning of different segments of economy. The institute has a large 16,000 square feet of built in infrastructure with adequate classrooms, conference halls and faculty rooms, along with good computer centre, library facilities and other amenities.

The institute became the only Orissa-based institution to get the EU India Small Projects Facility in Economic Cooperation funding for a joint project. The project aims at improving the organizational skill and networking capacity of around 100 small and medium enterprises in Orissa through a series of need-based training events and workshops with follow-up activities. The institute also runs a consultancy outfit to leverage he intellectual capital resident in the school. There is adequate faculty in the school to carry out normal academic activities and also participate in research and consultant activities.

The institute has been having a strong record of placements owing to its networking over the years with the industry and its proven trackrecord of high quality academic work and student quality.
