The textile city of Coimbatore in south India has always been known for entre- preneurship and the founders of the PSG Institute also came from a textile y but with a vision to develop high educational standards even as early as 1926 when the institute was actually launched. The department of management studies of the PSG Institute of Technology was stated in 1965 and the present PSG Institute of Management was carved out of this department in the year 1994. In the two decades of its existence the institute has come a long way as one of the nation- ally renowned management, institutes of the country and with every passing year it is gaming in strength.
The curriculum is designed to deliver cutting edge application of theory, corn- bined with an industry interface protocol that ensures that the students are industry reaa”y when they graduate from the portals of the institute. The mission of the institute is to provide world-class education and encourage entrepreneurship. The campus of the institute is large occupying 20 acres of land complete with all amenities. The institute currently runs a Masters Programme international business in associa- Lion with IIFT, a post graduate diploma programme in management, a PG diploma in tourism management in association with Pricol Travels and a post graduate dipio- ma in advertising and communication.
The institute has state-of-the-art computer centre and wi fi connectivity and uses e-learning software to assist the faculty in their pedagogy. The learning man- agement system currently being installed will provide online teaching and learning materials for the students and the faculty. The entire institute is moving towards paperless learning. The institute has an enviable placement record with more than 50 companies reporting to campus every year. Over 90 per cent of the students receive their job offers even before they have completed their education, endorsing the positive perception the institute enjoys with the corporate.
The institute has a good faculty resource ensuring favourable student faculty ratio and also making sure that the institute is able to conduct a number of relevant management training programme for the industry in the region and outside. The institute has nearly 1,800 alumni pool which is a source of strength for the institute.
